It blew my mind when I found out that in Japan most people use items for one and only one thing. The good news is that I often see huge wood and glass cabinets filled full of all kinds of ceramics from all over Japan and sometimes even all over the world. I also found it bizare and funny when a dinner guest started educating me about how I was using all my dinnerware in the wrong ways.
